A Date with Hadassah

The kids had been laid down for their naps, I had straightened up the frazzled state we had left our house in when we went out the door hurriedly to church that morning, Jordan was home, but preparing for a counseling session he had coming up, and I sat down to scroll through our church directory to see who I would invite to meet me at Starbucks for the very last day of buy one get one free drinks. …… but then I had an idea…..HADASSAH. So I snuck into the girls bedroom, pulled her out of her bed, and we went on a date just me and her. Anytime there was a moment of silence I would ask her, “what are you thinking about?” The honesty in her response each time was refreshing and precious. I asked her that question at least a dozen times in the couple of hours as we sat there. And I heard anything from “I think I look really pretty in my reflection in the Starbucks window” to “I’m thinking about Jesus on the cross obeying God and rising again and I’d love to hug him and kiss him someday because of that.” 😭💖 Also something about Disney World, clouds, airplanes, and one comment about Alabama football. I was amazed at how fast her mind changed subjects, and I had a great couple of hours trying to keep up with her.
